On Thursday, December 8, we will have a Mass at 7:45 a.m. at the Magis Eagles Arena to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. The Feast is only one of three Holy Days of Obligation in the Philippines (the other two being Christmas Day and Solemnity of Mary Mother of God on January 1).
The Immaculate Conception celebrates the day on which Mary, was conceived immaculately or conceived without original sin, in the womb of St. Anne. This was a grace especially given to Mary since she was to be the Mother of Jesus. It is exactly nine months to before we celebrate her birthday on September 8.
On December 8, 1854, Pope Pius IX officially declared the Immaculate Conception a dogma of the Church, which means that all Catholics are bound to accept it as true.
Let us pray for our Jesuit Scholastics Bro. Mamert Mañus and Bro. Joseph Patrick Echevarria who will renovate their Jesuit vows.
In the afternoon, we will be blessing the Santa Maria della Strada Chapel in the Eduardo J. Aboitiz Senior High School Building.
To celebrate this beautiful feast of the Church, let us wear BLUE on Thursday, December 8, 2016. Faculty, Staff and Students may wear jeans.
Oh Mary conceived without original sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
