Chinese New Year Celebration

February 8, 2016 marks the start of the year of the Fire Red Monkey in the Chinese Calendar. Monkeys are believed to be intelligent and witty and have magnetic personalities.  The Chinese New Year or Spring Festival is a fifteen day celebration.

This year, Sacred Heart School- Ateneo de Cebu will celebrate the Chinese New Year on February 15, 2016 (Monday). During the mass, we will also honor Fr. Julian Hernando, S.J. who celebrates his 88th birthday on February 13, 2016. We will also formally name the Fr. Julian Hernando, S.J. Athletic Field on that day and we will launch a book of compilation of his homilies. Finally, we will officially close our 60th Jubilee Year.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

7:20 a.m.                 Movement to Magis Eagles Arena

7:45 – 9:45 a.m.      Inculturated Holy Mass

Regular classes after the Mass (to be announced by respective Departments).

The Chinese New Year or the Spring Festival is the most significant festivity in the Chinese calendar. As a Chinese-Filipino community, let us joyfully celebrate this special occasion by wearing Chinese Attire on February 15.

There will be no classes on Monday, February 8, 2016.
